Adjust Change Assistant to Oracle Metalink

Since some time now PeopleSoft’s support site Customer Connection has been replaces by Oracle Metalink. The Change Assistant is making use of Customer Connection (when searching for bundles / fixes) and other PeopleSoft servers (like update.peoplesoft.com).

Due to this migration to Customer Connection you might get some issues when using the Change Assistant. This post helps you in getting things working again.

The first problem you might have is that the server www.peoplesoft.com or update.peoplesoft.com cannot be reached anymore via the Change Assistant. This is because the IP-addresses of these servers changed. To solve this problem, add subnet 141.146.54.0 to your firewall settings.

Second, when trying to search for bundles an empty page appears or errors out. This occurs because on the original page (http://www.peoplesoft.com/goto/updategateway) a redirect has been placed to the new page and this redirection takes 75 seconds or longer if there are network bandwith issues. To go to the new link directly, open the settings.xml file in the Change Assistant directory and replace the original link with this one: https://metalink3.oracle.com/od/faces/secure/ml3/patches/PSFTUpdateGateway.jspx.

And last, if you still have troubles connecting to Orale Metalink, add the following to your trusted web sites (internet explorer security settings):

  • https://metalink3.oracle.com
  • https://psft-updates.oracle.com
  • http://www.peoplesoft.com
  • https://update.peoplesoft.com
