Oracle extends Fusion Applications availability to Windows

As promised Oracle is now supplying Oracle Fusion Applications on Windows. Most system administrators and installers will probably say, why is this important?

Bringing Oracle Fusion Applications to Windows makes the application more accessible to the ‘common man’. Let’s be honest, the majority of IT does have knowledge and access to Windows, a smaller part has knowledge of Linux and an ever smaller part has any experience with IBM AIX and Oracle Solaris, not even to mention the availability of these two operation systems for the common IT. Since Oracle Fusion Applications is made up of so many Oracle components, Oracle Fusion Applications has attracted the interest of not only the ERP community, but also the attention of other communities like DBA’s, Middleware/Integration specialists, etc and they all want to get a taste of the future.

Fusion Applications – go for the cloud

As Fusion Applications is now been available for some months the requirements to install Oracle proposes to Fusion Applications are becoming more clear. They are much heavier than the hardware requirements for PeopleSoft or E-Business Suite. Also, the knowledge of other modules such as Identity Management and Enterprise Manager is required. Actually, for a proper installation of Fusion Applications a multidisciplinary team is needed. This is fundamentally different from PeopleSoft, where a senior system administrator was able to install a PeopleSoft environment on his own. We have experienced this our self and our experiences correspond with fellow systems integrators.

By now, most of us know it takes more resources to run a Fusion Applications environment, than any other ERP system. Creating a local sandbox, to acquire knowledge and experience of  Fusion Applications, is not done on local servers anymore.

Do not despair …
