Oracle goes Web 2.0

Web 2.0For quite a time Oracle is focusing on Application Integration in combination with Web 2.0 concepts. With the release of the Webcenter Suite, Oracle tries to increase the productivity of employees within a company. Not only by combining functionality from different applications but also by offering some basic Web 2.0 essentials like wiki’s, blogs, social communities and instant messaging. Oracle’s Webcenter will therefore places itself to be an important part of the Fusion Middleware productline.

Recently Oracle launched there own Wiki: http://wiki.oracle.com. In my opinion this will be a very powerfull platform, because of the way that information will be collected and presented: i.e. user driven.

Oracle already uses a well organized way of presenting there blogs: http://blogs.oracle.com. On this community employees, executives and others can exchange best-practices and other important information.

In my believe it’s very important to use these concepts in order to create a wider community for your organization. Web 2.0 methods can therefore be used to involve people into your organization matters and will generate more exposure for your organization.

Maybe it’s time for your company to go Web 2.0?

I think an organization like ours (LogicaCMG) can profit a lot from the potential of Web 2.0/Enterprise 2.0: Webapplications like wiki, blog, social networks, screencasting, forum, document/whiteboard sharing, social bookmarking etc etc.

We’ve already got a huge community with consultants and customers with a great deal of knowledge about all kinds of area’s, which could be presented in one of these formats.
And the technical implementation is not a big challenge at all either.

Next to the technical benefits for the employees should the marketing and commercial potential of the above be very appealing to any manager… :)
