OpenWorld 2007: Day 1

A number of Keynotes have been held during the first two days of Oracle OpenWorld. On Sunday Larry Ellison and Safra Katz where going over 30 years of Oracle history and how their pizza boy became Oracle’s first CFO.

  • Yesterday Charles Phillips started OpenWorld officially with his keynote. No spectacular announcements but here is a small list:
    Application Integration Architecture 2.0 (with new process integration packs
  • Database Vault & Audit Vault
  • Oracle Agile PLM (Product Lifecycle)

After the introduction Chuck Rozwat (responsible for the development of Fusion Middleware) gave a couple of demo’s on stage of Fusion Middleware parts.

  • BPA Suite to BPEL transformation
  • Enterprise Manager based on Services
  • Database Vault & Audit Vault

Fusion

Oracle’s Charles Phillip: Fusion on track and Saas for all

In a meeting with Enterprise Irregulars after his keynote at OpenWorld, Oracle President Charles Phillips discussed the future of Fusion, software-as-a-service (SaaS), his notion of “acquired innovation” and other topics. Fusion is Oracle’s next-generation suite of applications, built from the ground up on SOA principles. He was asked if Fusion is “real.” He responded, “I’ve been trying to clear this up for three years.”

Oracle today unveiled the Oracle(R) Application Integration Architecture for SAP initiative, which is intended to extend Oracle’s application integration offering to joint Oracle / SAP customers and provide them a standards-based method to unify their enterprise applications and rapidly adopt a Service-Oriented Architecture.

SGI Sets Another Record in Oracle(R) E-Business Suite Benchmark Tests

At the world’s largest gathering of Oracle software users, SGI today announced its SGI(R) Altix(R) platform has again broken the performance and scalability record for real-world, multi-tier applications running Oracle(R) Database 10g Release 2.

PeopleSoft

Quest Software introduces a new version of Stat on OpenWorld. Stat is a change management tool for PeopleSoft.
